Arkansas Veterinary Medical Foundation

The Arkansas Veterinary Medical Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1980 by a group of Arkansas veterinarians for scientific and educational purposes. Contributions to the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Foundation's Memorial Gift Program are used to grant scholarships to Arkansas students enrolled in veterinary schools. These scholarships are awarded to Arkansas students based upon need, merit, and academic performance. Your contributions directly aid in the support, development, expansion, and promotion of veterinary science.

Anyone who has lost a family member, loved one, or a beloved pet, may find a memorial gift to be a comforting gesture.  This program exists to comfort those who have suffered a loss by contributing to the betterment of animal welfare.

If you would like to make a donation to the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Foundation, contact Dr. Donna Shaw, chairperson of the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Foundation, at Shaw Veterinary Clinic (870) 856-3243 or mail a check to:

 Our Loving Girl Rosie

Rosie_Newton.jpg

From the moment we saw her, we fell in love. Rosie had eyes that went directly to your heart. She had a way of making you feel like you were the only one who mattered to her, and yet, she had that affect on anyone who came in contact with her. She had a strong spirit, was ready for any adventure, and never complained. The only way you could tell if she wasn't feeling good was to look into her eyes.  They say that the eyes are the pathway to the soul and, in Rosie's case, that was certainly true.  Rosie grew up loving nothing more than a good meal, a warm bed, and hours and hours of playing ball. She was tenacious when it came to ball, and your arm would get tired before she would ever run out of steam. She was the adopted mother to the rest of our brood and taught them how to use the dog door, how to beg for one more treat, and how to twist us around their little paws. She was extremely protective. If she did not know you, you had to pass muster with her or you could not get into the house. Her loyalty was true and certain. We never questioned that she loved us unconditionally. We could see it in her eyes. Will she be missed???? Don't even ask...she will never be forgotten because whatever we gave her in love and kindness, we got back a hundred times over.  Ray and Linda Newton.
